OHTL Surveys (Overhead Transmission Line)

Merqab provides Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) survey services using mobile truck-mounted inspection systems equipped with thermal cameras, partial discharge detection equipment, and high-resolution optical cameras. Our OHTL surveys are designed to identify defects in overhead lines including hotspots in conductors and connections, partial discharge on insulators, damaged hardware, and conductor condition issues — all without taking lines out of service. OHTL surveys using mobile inspection systems offer significant advantages over traditional walking inspection: they cover more line length per day, can be performed on energized lines, provide accurate GPS-referenced defect location data, and produce permanent photographic and thermal records that can be used for trend analysis over time. Merqab's OHTL survey teams deliver structured inspection reports with GPS-located defect images, thermal data, severity classifications, and prioritized maintenance recommendations.
